CS Visioning Workshops
In an effort to expand Computer Science (CS) education access and alignment, MMSA is working with districts across Maine to create CS Visions for their schools. Workshops are free of charge through the STEM Workforce Ready 2030 project.
School districts and other local education organizations are the units of change toward creating rigorous, inclusive, and sustainable K-12 computer science education. CS Visioning Workshops help districts identify actionable plans for implementing computer science curriculum.

What can we expect in CS Visioning Workshops?
The CS Visioning Workshops primarily use SCRIPT — the Strategic CSforALL Resource & Implementation Planning Tool — a framework to guide teams of district administrators, school leaders, and educators through a series of collaborative visioning, self-assessment, and goal-setting exercises to create or expand upon a computer science education implementation plan for their students. The workshops are interactive and full of discussion, putting the district leaders and educators in the driver's seat to create the vision.
The SCRIPT supports systems-level change by addressing six key areas: (1) Leadership, (2) Teacher Capacity and Development, (3) Curriculum and Materials Selection and Refinement, (4) Partners, (5) Community, and (6) Technology Infrastructure.
Who should be on the CS Vision team?
Teams from each district are comprised of administration (both school and district level) and educators. We recommend having building admin, district admin, teachers, librarians/media specialists, tech directors or integrators, counselors, art teachers, curriculum leaders, and others involved on your team.
How long are the CS Visioning Workshops?
The workshops are generally two full days with an average of five participants from each district. Workshops can also be split into four half days or a combination of full and half days.
Supportive check-ins are scheduled with the team and facilitator at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months.
How much does a CS Visioning Workshop Cost?
Thanks to the generous funding of the Harold Alfond Foundation, MMSA is able to offer the CS Visioning Workshops and follow-up support FREE of charge.
